We are another week closer to the finished Sunset Strip Beautification Project! Please remember that all businesses are open during their normal business hours, and we encourage you to support your local businesses during construction.
Last week crews finished the construction of bus pads on the north side of Sunset Boulevard. This week they will work to replace remaining bus pads on the south side of Sunset. The process includes pouring new concrete in the affected areas. While the concrete is hardening, no cars can drive on it. Because of this, traffic will be reduced down to one lane in the Eastbound direction, 24 hours a day for the entire week.
The City has made adjustments to have the concrete harden faster to allow for traffic to drive on it sooner. The lanes are expected to be reopened to traffic at the end of the week. Commuters are encouraged to plan for extra time to get through the area.
Bus pads will be constructed at the following five intersections with Sunset Boulevard this week: 1. Doheny Drive; 2. Doheny Road/Cory Avenue; 3. Hammond Street; 4.Clark Street/San Vicente Avenue; 5. Holloway Drive/Horn Avenue/Palm Avenue; all on the south side of the street.
The contractor continues to repair sidewalks and curbs between Alta Loma Road and San Vicente Boulevard. Sidewalk pressure washing is also taking place in the mornings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. when there are less people on the sidewalks.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during the construction and temporary lane closures.
