“The Sunset Strip Market is made up of growers and food purveyors who are deeply committed to organic and sustainable practices and simply good food. Our excellent farmers are well known for their integrity of product and taste and our food offerings are dedicated to health and local sourcing of ingredients,” noted Diana Rodgers, a respected leader in California community farmers’ markets who curated the Sunset Strip Market. “It was of the utmost concern for the Sunset Strip community to have truly local, healthy and delicious options for their market. I am proud to present this stellar lineup to the West Hollywood community.”
The Sunset Strip Market emerged from a shared vision between business owners and residents to create a community-based event that would encourage nearby residents, employees, farmers and visitors to interact with each other while also providing them with a selection of California-grown, certified and organic produce and local artisan goods.
The community spirit of the Market extends to other offerings, including education about composting and recycling, outdoor games and special farm-to-table chef dinners.
Each week the Market will feature a special farm-to-table menu created by a local chef who will craft a menu using produce and meat sourced directly from the Sunset Strip Market’s farmers. This unique experience will highlight farm fresh ingredients while also allowing chefs to showcase their talents in a casual, outdoor setting. The June 14 opening night will feature the Eveleigh’s executive chef Jordan Toft. Upcoming weeks will be hosted by RH executive chef Jorge Chicas, Mirabelle executive chef Michael Bryant and BLT Steak LA executive chef Robert Liberato.
Guests will also have the opportunity to pair their meal with one of the organic, sustainable wines available in the Market’s “pairing pavilion.” Freshly shucked oysters, farmstead cheeses and artisan breads will also be available for guests to create their own pairing menus. The June 14 opening will feature sustainable wines from The Hess Collection and craft beers from Golden Road Brewing.
The Market will highlight community with the entertainment stage as well, which will feature a rotating lineup of Sunset Strip businesses hosting live music performances each week. The Standard, Hollywood will host the opening night’s music as part of their Desert Nights showcase. Curated by KCRW’s DJ Valida, artists performing on June 14 include Dawn Mitschele, Phantom Tortoise (a new project by artists Justine Bennett and B Willing James) and Sotto.
Guests who wish to explore the boulevard after shopping at the Market may utilize the “Veggie Valet” service. The charitable program allows shoppers to check-in their produce bags while they dine or shop at one of The Sunset Strip’s nearby establishments.
