Acclaimed Producer Peter Asher To Sign “British Invasion” Art Guitar On The Sunset Strip

This Thursday, Oct. 25 legendary music producer and musician Peter Asher will sign a 10-foot-tall art guitar celebrating the impact of British culture on rock and roll and The Sunset Strip. The guitar, which is part of Gibson GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip, was created by artist Todd Williamson.

The signing will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Sunset Strip Market, located at 8755 Sunset Boulevard, and is open to the public.  

Asher's music career began in 1964 as one-half of the singing duo Peter and Gordon. He served as head of A&R for the Beatles' Apple Records, founder of Peter Asher Management, produced works for artists including Neil Diamond, James TAylor, Elvis Costello, The Dixie Chicks, Rodrigo y Gabriela,  Billy Joel among others, has received a Grammy Award for Producer of the Year as well as 37 RIAA-certified gold albums and 22 platinum albums. Most recently, Asher collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams on the production of musical elements for the 2012 Academy Awards Show and produced an album by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.

Williamson lives and works in Los Angeles. He was awarded the Pollock Krasner Foundation Award Grant in 2010, an Artistic Merit Award from the Consulate General to the United States in Naples, Italy, a Curator’s Choice Award-Micro Museum, NY, and two Artslant Showcase Awards. Williamson has a BA from Belmont University, has studied at Cal State and UCLA and attended the American Academy in Rome, Skopelos Foundation of Art – Greece, the International School – Venice, Italy, and Louise Bourgeois’ Artist Salon. His work has been exhibited around the world and is collected by some of the top collectors and museums. His “British Invasion” guitar is a tribute to the great influence of the British bands and singers that have influenced him over the years.

Gibson GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is a public art project that launched in 2010 to celebrate the artists, musicians and individuals who have shaped this legendary music boulevard.
