Rainy Days Are Here Again

Longing for sunnier days? Remember this is LA, the land of special effects, so even if it is dreary and pouring outdoors, you can still pretend warm spring days are here.

Trick your tastebuds into believing it’s summer with some fresh cocktails. Stop by RH at Andaz for happy hour and receive complimentary gourmet bar bites with your drink. Channel springtime with a glass of Domaine Fontsainte Rose ($12), or go tropical with the rum-based Carnival featuring Papagayo Organic white rum, white peach juice and fresh raspberries ($13).

Try the Ruby Red Sunset ($14) — Absolut ruby red vodka, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, fresh grapefruit juice and fresh lime juice — or The Wimbleton, Pimm’s Cup No. 1 ($10.20) — fresh mint, cucumber and fresh lemon and lime juices served on the rocks — at Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood.

Travel to the sunny South of France without leaving Sunset with BLT Steak’s raw bar. Enjoy periwinkles ($9 for half pound), oysters ($20), or the decadent seafood platter featuring oysters, clams, crab claws, shrimp, Taylor Bay scallops, lobster and ceviche ($90). Add a glass of bubbly to the mix for a meal that is beyond magnifique.

Cactus Lounge at The Standard brings the rugged, sunny desert direct to you. Surrounded by a wrap-around desert mural, sip one of five signature mojitos ($12) and enjoy fresh guacamole with plantain chips ($7) with views of the pool.

Or warm up by cozying up to the fireplace at The Den of Hollywood while enjoying $5 margaritas and martinis from 8 p.m. to close on Tuesdays, and half-priced happy hour from 5-7 p.m. weekdays and 3-7 p.m. weekends.

And when all else fails, laughter really is the best medicine. Chase away those blues with a show at the world famous Comedy Store. Bring two friends and the three of you can score free entry with The Store’s  three-for-free ticket.
