It ain’t nothing but a good time on The Sunset Strip as a Rock Of Ages-inspired night takes over the boulevard this Friday, June 1. The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go-Go, House of Blues Sunset Strip and Key Club are all opening up their doors to host an epic night of music, with ticket giveaways to the Rock of Ages movie premiere on June 8, celebrity appearances and drink specials.
Music on June 1 includes the Jetboy’s 25th anniversary show at the Whisky A Go-Go; ’80s live band karaoke at the House of Blues; Hillbilly Herald, who is currently on tour with Slash, at The Viper Room; a full night with rock bands Warner Drive, The Shakers and Kill The Complex at The Roxy; and Clockwork Orange dance party featuring ‘80s and New Wave tunes at the Key Club.
RH bar at Andaz is also getting in on the action and offering two specialty cocktails inspired by the movie. “The Golden God” includes bourbon, St. Germain, organic agave nectar, pineapple juice topped with crème soda and the “Rock & Roll” featuring rum, pineapple juice with blended mint leaves and lime. Both are available for $12.
The night is in advance of Rock of Ages theatrical release on June 15. Rock of Ages, a film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, is set in 1987 on The Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, when hair metal ruled the scene. The movie features a fictional club called The Bourbon Room and other Sunset Strip hotspots, and stars Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, and Mary J. Blige, with Alec Baldwin, and Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx.
